The Grand Lodge of Ireland

Heritage, Brotherhood, and Freemasonry Since 1725

The Grand Lodge of Ireland, formally known as the Grand Lodge of Ancient, Free & Accepted Masons of Ireland, is one of the oldest and most respected Masonic jurisdictions in the world. Established in 1725, it is the second most senior Grand Lodge, with a legacy of leadership, tradition, and fraternal excellence spanning nearly three centuries.

Today, the Grand Lodge of Ireland governs thousands of Freemasons both in Ireland and internationally, nurturing a global network built on integrity, charity, personal growth, and the timeless principles of Freemasonry.

A Legacy Rooted in History

Freemasonry in Ireland dates back to the late 16th and early 17th centuries. Early Irish lodges played a significant role in shaping organized Freemasonry, and by the 1700s, Irish Masonic customs and governance were recognized internationally.

The first verifiable record of the Grand Lodge of Ireland appears in June 1725, marking the start of a long and uninterrupted institutional history. Over the centuries, Irish Freemasonry has attracted philosophers, reformers, statesmen, and community leaders, drawn by its emphasis on brotherhood, moral development, and service to humanity.

This commitment to excellence has enabled the Grand Lodge of Ireland to remain steadfast through political, social, and cultural changes, preserving its traditions while embracing modern society.
